ProScout Boston

Across the river from ProScout was Harvard and MIT. But inside the Sheraton Boston Towers, it was “Harvardwood”.   Check out the agents and talent that came together last week during the ProScout / New England event ‘09. Pass the chowda!

Expectations were high, all major agencies arrived one by one: New York Models, Ford, Elite, Wilhelmina, Coast to Coast, Click, House Of Reps, LA Models, Management First… the top 40 agencies came from around the country.

ProScout discovered actor and rising TV star Bridger Zadina made the trip from L.A. to Boston;  Bridger was found at a ProScout event in Minneapolis a few years ago.

Bridger is now a very familiar face to many; fresh off a stunning co-starring role on Law and Order SVU (“Transitions”, NBC).  Of course, he’s also a regular as a Disney Movie Surfer. To see Bridger’s recent interview with Miley Cyrus and the cast of Hannah Montana: The Movie,  just click on one of the links above.  You’ve also seen Bridger’s national Alltel commercial, it gets monster air time 24/7. He also just wrapped work on the upcoming animated flick  Dr. Doolittle where he voiced alongside Tom Kenny, the voice behind the infamous SpongeBob Squarepants

Pre-selected talent arrived from all over New England… Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Mass, Rhode Island, Connecticut, parts of New York State.  The stage was set, there’d be two days of meeting, greeting, and auditioning.
Most everyone had practiced for this moment…  only this time it would be live before national level agents.

This years highest callback attendee was 18 year old Sarah Criss of Plattsburgh, NY.  With 19 agency callbacks from nearly every major fashion agency, Sarah is set to finish her senior year and focus on a summer of modeling in NYC.

Sarah Criss was top callback girl

Sarah has made the most of meeting ProScout agencies, in 05 she had 13 callbacks, in 07  it was 23.  The first time she was a bit overwhelmed, the second time she opted to keep school a priority.   This time, Sarah was in the hunt for a contract that would secure her a full blown summer in NYC.  With callbacks from Ford, Next, Wilhelmina, Elite, Coast to Coast, BMG, Click, Runways (more), she’s set.  Back home in Plattsburgh, Sarah was a cheerleader in football and basketball teams, and loves  hockey.  Interestingly, Sarah’s dad Michael is a stock car racer – and Sarah has won the Powderpuff Division races three years running (in her own Renegade stock car which can reach speeds up to 110 mph).  She’s a sweetheart, Fast and Furious!

Event speakers and special workshops were put on by Chambers Stevens from Actors Boot Camp in L.A.; Didiayer
from ABC TV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
“, David McDermott from NYC’s Jordan, Gill, Dornbaum agency,
plus others. Everyone had fun, and shrugged off the jitters.  Many people were able to pull down callbacks,
more than we could possibly shoot.  Check out our sampling of faces and places from the weekend…

Many people received callbacks, made industry connections that can pay off with follow-through;
both in the modeling and acting sectors. Let’s meet a few below….

It was our first time doing anything like this. It was overwhelming for me and the girls as well… We had a great time meeting people and getting a real feel for the industry. My girls want to go back again next year and this time they will understand how important it is to interact with the agents. Thanks ProScout for all your hard work in putting this massive event together!!!

By Brittany Medeiros on April 23rd, 2009 at 7:49 am

Proscout was the best event I have ever gone too. Before Proscout I spent many hours auditioning, and traveling, and it turn into nothing. Proscout made me feel important in this business, and it taught me so much, that I can take with me, to get ahead in this career. Thank you for all your help Proscout, I hope to go to the next event.

This was my first time attending this event. I went to the open calls last year and was told I wasn’t ready. I then went back to the open calls this year and made it through. It was little overwhelming because there were so many kids there, but the staff was very friendly and made it very easy for me to relax and be myself. It was a wonderful experience I ended up getting 1 callback. I would defiantly recommend it. Thanks ProScout!

Has anyone that attended a proscout event that got a callback or callbacks went on further? when your number was called and you got to talk with agents has anyone actually got jobs? Were you asked to pay more money to them or the agents to get the ball rolling? Just curious.

This event was the first for my daughter Brittany. It was informative and entertaining. The ProScout staff were extremely supportive as well as all the guest speakers. I was very impressed with the focus on family and appreciation of the gifts all around you. With lots of tips and experience from this weekend, Brittany is eager for another shot! Best wishes to all!

My daughter and I went to the Boston event. It was really exciting. My daughter was so happy that she got to meet Bridger and Didiayer. She was discouraged that she did not get a call back, and told me that she wasn’t going to try to pursue it again. but then by the time we got out of the parking garage(an hour later), she changed her mind and asked me if we could go to PA in November.
The ProScout staff was great — very helpful.
Hopefully we can do another event. It was a great learning experience for both my daughter and myself.

By Yuniquie Robinson and Family on May 14th, 2009 at 5:34 pm

Our daughter had a blast at the Boston event! It was an exciting time for her, she was not discouraged at not being chosen this time, but was rather happy for those who were able to be chosen. She told us that one day it may be her? We all got to meet so many wonderful and talented people there at the Boston Sheraton site with so much to see and do… we were kept busy the entire time… we were able to share Yuniquie with The ProScout Staff Members, who were very helpful with possible picture selections and lots of awesome pointers. It was such a fundamental experience for her to try out for. Especially with Didiayer’s mentorship and support she found was so very fun for her. ProScout is all a well organized and thoughtful part needed in the industry. ProScout is the opportunity to be noticed and recongnized by the real top agents from all over the world! It had a lot to what look they were searching and looking for at that time too in order to even get selected or chosen. It is an integral part of the industry that should be utilized whether your child is selected or not. It’s not a scam or a rip off – that’s a fact – and that if your child has what the agents are looking for at an event then believe me they’ll get chosen, otherwise try again until an agent need can be met. The experience and appreciation the industry shows to all who support our children and the pursuit of their dream not yours through them my friends. So keep trying or simply enjoy the family mini-vations! Thank you ProScout for everything you do in the industry!
